| My tenant had to leave suddenly to deal with a family health emergency out of province, so our studio will be available again starting later this week in case anybody needs a place to stay for a month or two or longer term… Looking for a comfortable, spacious room in an inclusive, open-minded household? Willing/able to do a little labour in exchange/partial exchange for rent??? Welcome to our strictly non-smoking, partially vegetarian, private homestead about a half hour north-east of Ch'town, a short distance from the village of Morell. ABOUT THE SPACE: Large, 14 x 28 foot open concept with LOTS of windows. Furnished with a pull out couch, table and chairs and a few other pieces. Deck overlooking back field. Lots of comfortable outdoor furniture, including hammocks. Your room is accessed by an external staircase, providing some privacy. Your room includes a washroom and sink, as well as a wood-burning stove. Monthly cleaning and linen change (can be increased for an additional fee). Electricity included until Sept, and wifi and weekly laundry on site can be arranged for an additional fee. You would need to provide your own bedding and towels. If you want to purchase a small fridge and a microwave for your room, that would be fine. Shared kitchen and shower downstairs, or create your own private outdoor kitchen using one of our outdoor shelters. There are also three firepits on the property that you can use. ABOUT THE PROPERTY: Our property comprises nearly 3 acres of partially treed land, and is a short walk/bike ride to the beach and local lighthouse, one of the oldest on PEI. We are about a 40 minute drive from downtown Charlottetown. Use of three shared bikes can be included in your stay. A little free library at the edge of the property will keep you in books throughout your time with us, and we also have several firepits and board games as well as an outdoor shower (clothing optional). There are hanging bars and other outdoor exercise equipment (use at your own risk)! We are a mostly vegetarian (but not vegan), acoustic only household — nice and peaceful. In season, we have fresh mint, lavender, various berries and tomatoes. The property and all buildings on it are strictly non-smoking (that includes vaping). We sometimes have others camp on our property. Our own "suite" consists of a bedroom, bathroom and closet. (It is attached to the main building, but is off-limits to visitors.) ABOUT US: I'm a certified teacher, licensed pilot and mother of adult monozygotic twins. My wife is a pilot who divides her time between Ontario and PEI. We welcome all potential applicants; new Canadians, LGB family, artists and neuro-atypicals are particularly welcome. The elderly gentleman my wife and I look after (and with whom we co-own the property) is on site about 20% of the time, and spends the rest of his time in Charlottetown and/or Mexico. He is an introvert, and is learning Spanish. He also plays chess. We have a human-friendly rescue dog, Sneakers, on site. Unfortunately she is quite dog aggressive, so if you have a pet, that would be a consideration; everyone needs to be leashed at all times and separation maintained. (We do have a fenced in area where dogs can run freely.) POSSIBLE RENT REDUCTION: I need a screened-in gazebo (floor is already done) built out of reclaimed materials if possible -- I have a window and a door that could be used, and some wood... but you would need to supply additional wood, high quality screening, power tools and also the labour! Willing to reduce/waive the rent for this job being completed. Also have a few other odd jobs like painting and weeding/gardening that we could trade for. If you are here longer term, could also trade for some dog sitting for a few weeks.
