| Furnished 1BR top floor downtown heritage condo w/ AMAZING views! (August 17 – Oct 1st) We are an academic couple (my husband is a professor at UVic) who will be away for 1.5 months for a research collaboration overseas. We are seeking someone to watch our cat in exchange for staying (rent-free) at our condo. A $1000 security deposit and references are required. One person only + no guests/visitors. Note: We can only have you stay during the dates we are away and we will return home on October 1st. ABOUT OUR CONDO: - Well maintained private home. - Everything is brand new!! We just purchased the condo in May 2022 + spent several months renovating and furnishing it. - 1BR condo located on the top (5th) floor of the Pandora Ave (SOUTH FACING) side of the Union Building. - The unit was listed as a one bedroom, yet we removed a wall, so it is more like a studio. - The condo has high ceilings with floor to ceiling south facing windows + an AMAZING view. - There is an unobstructed view looking over Market Square + the rooftops of Historic Old Town Victoria and you can also see the mountains, harbour + sea planes + ferries + hear/see boats and seagulls from the balcony. You’ll also see great sunsets and we’ve attached a collage of pix we have taken from the balcony as well as some pix of the street + front of the building. - The location is prime as we are smack in the center of Historic Old Town Victoria and you are surrounded by boutiques, cafes/restaurants and in walking distance of several grocery stores. Fan Tan Alley which leads to Chinatown is a few feet away. The harbour and the Johnson Street bridge are ½ block away. - There is easy access to the Harbour Path as the trail starts just ½ block from us – great for morning and evening (sunset) walks!:) - Newly remodeled bathroom (glass shower/tub doors, cabinet, etc.) - Fresh paint (painted just a few weeks ago). - Open space with TONS of light (we just removed the wall that enclosed the bedroom so you can see the view from the bedroom). - large table for workspace. - high end dimmable lighting everywhere (including closet and under counter lighting). - NOTE: There is very little closet space (we are leaving all our clothes here), so this would only work for someone who was bringing very little with them and living out of your suitcase. - Very well insulated and heated building (you will never feel cold, even during winter!) - Modern wood floors - Washer/dryer in unit - High end brand new bed linens + towels - New modern kitchen appliances + cookware (we were previously renting a fully-furnished condo, so every single item is brand new!) - Brand new upscale furniture. - Brand new Ghostbed Luxe queen-sized memory foam mattress - Brand new Samsung 55” QLED Smart TV - Fast wifi - Fully furnished with bedding, towels, brand new cookware (mostly from Crate and Barrel). - THE best yoga studio in town (MA yoga) is a 3 min walk away through a cute alley! - Spinco (cycling studio) is located on the ground floor of our building + there are other gyms and yoga studios within walking distance. ADDITIONAL DETAILS / RENTAL TERMS: - We STRONGLY PREFER one person only. - No guests at any time (only the person staying here could enter our condo). - We prefer someone local (e.g. a student who wants a break from his/her roommates and wanted to stay downtown by the harbour). - We would need you to have another place to stay (which is why we prefer someone local) on the off-chance we had any emergencies that caused us to be unable to leave or have to return home. We don’t think that would be the case as we’ve booked our flights and lodging overseas, though would need this to be agreed as this is our only home. - No smoking/no drugs - No pets - No loud noise (we have very quiet neighbors + 2 Strata council members are located on our floor). - $1000 security deposit (this will be returned to you when we return and see that our place and our cat are ok). - No parking as we will be leaving our car in our garage parking spot. However, you could park on the other side of the Johnson Street bridge where there are quiet residential streets with free parking. - There is easy bus access + everything you need is in walking distance + you can use car share if you needed a car for day trips. - References (both work and rental) are required. - We need to see proof of your employment or status as a student. - We will need to interview you and will only consider someone we feel comfortable having in our home who has strong references. - Our kitty is a friendly 2 year old ragdoll. She is litter trained and gentle/friendly. Sleeps a lot during the day thought needs a lot of attention, especially in the evenings.
